Adobe Fireworks CS4 - Learning Center

Welcome to the Fireworks CS4 Learning Center

Welcome to the Adobe Fireworks CS4 Beta Learning Center. Adobe has recently released Fireworks CS4 to the Labs as a public beta. What does this mean? This means you get a chance to "kick the tires" of Fireworks CS4 before it is officially released.

Take this time to go through the various sections on the site and get up to speed on what Fireworks CS4 has to offer. Adobe has really put together an outstanding release, so your sure to find a lot of cool things. Keep in mind this is beta software so things may be out of place, broken and anything is subject to change before the final release. All you need to experience this site is a browser (obviously have one of those because your reading this) and the latest Flash Player [link] in order to view the video content.

New Features

Adobe has taken the time to really pay attention to the features we all desire. Here is just a small list of what's part of Fireworks CS4.

Updated UI

Even with all the features and advancements listed above, Adobe still found the time to update the UI of Fireworks CS4. This version now looks more like the CS3 apps and beyond. This is a much larger thing because as you know, Fireworks missed out on a UI update for CS3, which was a fact of schedules and all that corporate stuff. All that aside, here is the new UI!

Updated Command Panels

Color Panel

The Color panel now supports 5 colors. The color wheel is more reactive with a real time preview of color swatches. The new tabbed setup really makes it easy to switch between Selector, Mixer and Blender options.

Align Panel

The Align panel has also been upgraded to ActionScript 3. A significant improvement is to undo history steps. Now you can undo a step using a keyboard shortcut.

Path Panel

The path panel has exposed more functionality that allows you to edit vectors with more precision then ever before. Upgraded to ActionScript 3 and supporting a new user interface this panel will be invaluable and will make you a vector editing wizard.

What is beta?
Beta means the product still probably has issues, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. However, that being said, it is not advised to use beta software in a mission critical project. Nothing is stopping you from doing so, its just not normally a good idea.
